Answer:
It is a common phenomenon for most lithium-ion batteries to experience a dramatic power efficiency decrease caused by the freezing weather. Lithium batteries rely on chemical reactions to work, and the cold can slow down the reactions significantly.
Our HULKMAN Alpha jump starter patented with low-temperature resistant batteries can be stored and operated at much lower temperatures than other jump starters.
However, we still don’t recommend storing the jump starter at an extremely low temperature for long periods of time outside the storage temperature range. It may lead to the overall degradation of the battery.
HULKMAN storage temperature & operating temperature:
Alpha 65 | Alpha 85 | Alpha 85S | Alpha 100 | |
Storage temperature | -40℉~131℉ | -40℉~131℉ | -40℉~131℉ | -40℉~131℉ |
Operating temperature | -4℉~113℉ | -4℉~113℉ | -40℉~113℉ | -40℉~113℉ |
Recommendations for storing your device in low temperature
- Avoid extreme temperatures
Despite your device having a wider storage and operating temperature range than most other jump starters, at extreme temperatures, your device has an efficiency reduction, which may contribute to its overall degradation.
- Keep the battery level above 80%
We recommend that you recharge your jump starter every 3 months to keep the battery power above 80% to prolong your battery lifespan and prevent issues in case of emergencies.
- Place your device in an environment with warmer temperature before using it
If you store your device at a low temperature, we suggest you place it in a warmer environment before using it. Your device will perform better at room temperature.
However, if your device is the Alpha 85S or Alpha 100, with the Pre-Heat Function, it increases the efficiency with which it operates.

There seems to be a discrepancy in operating temperatures. Per the back of my Hulkman 85 it states that it will throw an error code when temp is too low and you must "Restore Jumpstarter to 0 degrees to 45C" NOT down to -4F (indicated above) which would be -20C. Which is the correct lower operating temperature?
